The first of two “Modeling and Visualization in Support of State Attainment Goals” Community of Practice convenings was held September 27-28, 2018, in Washington, D.C. Teams from 15 states addressed shared challenges related to setting and supporting progress toward educational attainment goals. The meeting provided professional development and technical assistance on a wide range of topics including:

• Strategies for modeling attainment goals
• Predictive modeling approaches
• Data visualization best practices
• Using visualizations to focus stakeholder attention on problems, such as attainment gaps, that need to be addressed
